Saw this show The Temptation of St. Antony by Four Larks, last week and while it has some problems – details I’ll get into in another post – it is well worth checking out, imaginative, committed, a visceral feast. Here’s the trailer which I think does a good job of using the cinematic medium to […]
Some irreverent Christmas silliness from Lost Moon Radio. Love these guys.
This is usually a pretty scarific time. And this little teaser trailer is brief but impactful. Wicked Lit 2014. Catch it.
Haven’t posted one of these in a while, but this is a pretty tasty trailer for what might be a pretty tasty show. Deaf West’s Spring Awakening, opening this weekend.
Altar Boyz, presented by Chromolume at the Attic Theatre. Kinda funny in all its blissful cheesiness.
A rather creepy but mostly effective teaser trailer from The Critical Action Theatre Company’s upcoming production of “Frozen”. This week’s Friday Feature.
A teaser for Furious Theatre’s latest offering, Foxfinder, currently playing at the Carrie Hamilton in Pasadena and apparently getting very good reviews. I wouldn’t know though as I’ve been away in Colorado helping my mom get settled into her new home. So I’m a bit behind, but as always I’ll soon be way ahead of […]
The new teaser trailer for the return engagement of Gangbuster Theatre’s excellent Sunny Afternoon, running January 10 through February 1, 2014. All told in under a minute. Well done, folks. Sunny Afternoon by Christian Levatino from Darrett Sanders on Vimeo.
A pretty swell cinematic depiction of a theatrical event for God’s Gypsy currently playing at the Lillian Theatre. Could have cut it by about 30 seconds, but it’s pretty good. The music really sells it and apparently that’s what the critics are lauding most about this particular production.
This particular teaser from Furious Theatre Company is a bit long in my book, they should never really be above 90 seconds, but it captures the feel of the piece cinematically and that’s good. And the show, Gidion’s Knot, is excellent. It’s a limited run so catch it now, folks.
Those who have never made a work of art sometimes find this reaction to performance interruptus difficult to understand. In the Age of Distraction though…it seems…that…is that my phone?…wait…what was I talking about…?
Coeurage Theatre is currently presenting Kushner’s A Bright Room Called Day and while the reviews so far are mixed, this little trailer is nifty enough to capture our Friday Feature this week. A Bright Room Called Day Trailer from Coeurage Theatre Company on Vimeo.
This is just so cool and so fun. Be careful at work, because you’re gonna wanna get on up and get lucky! Daft Punk!
It’s a little long – they’ll figure that out as well – but clearly what the The Antaeus Company has already figured out – and what we’ve been pushing here for years at the Lemon – is that the teaser trailer for theater needs to ENTERTAIN. It needs to entertain to such a degree that […]
The trailer for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, getting some nice reviews down at San Diego’s Old Globe. Funny little teaser.
Track 3 by Theatre Movement Bazaar over at the Bootleg Theatre. Cool video teaser.
An odd little ditty from Padua Playwrights for their new show The Black Glass.
Saw this last night, Cheek by Jowl’s production of ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, in association with CAP UCLA. Have to admit I was not familiar with the company or the play. Tarantino’s got nothing on Ford and the Jowlies. Yikes. Catch it if you can, only playing through this weekend. Still not sure why […]
A nicely put together “thank you” from the Antaeus Company.
DOMA Theatre Company presents Avenue Q. The show has been getting raves and I’m catching it tomorrow night. Looking forward to it. I like this little video teaser they put together. It has extended into February, catch it if you can.
A Bright New Boise now playing at Rogue Machine. Kinda corny but I think that’s the idea…
Not my favorite approach to these teaser trailers – actual clips recorded from a live performance – but it looks pretty good and I believe this is the final weekend for the show. Bend in the Road currently playing at the Carrie Hamilton at the Pasadena Playhouse extended through October 14th.
Skypilot Theatre Company’s teaser trailer for Kong: A Goddamn Thirty Foot Gorilla. Kinda silly, but hey, maybe the show is kinda silly.
Coeurage Theatre Company presents The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love Suicide opening tonight, September 28th at their home at the Actors Circle Theatre.
Son of Semele’s The City. Playing through September 23rd, 2012. Trailer for “The City” by Martin Crimp, a U.S. premiere production by Son of Semele Ensemble from Matthew McCray on Vimeo.
This man is simply a Rock and Roll God. To have the confidence and joy to allow this little girl to shine live is extraordinary. To say nothing of the little girl…
Amazingly creative video made via the combined talents of the Pig Pen Theatre Company with animation by Buffalo Picture House. The song is called Bremen and so is the band. Nice. Hat tip, my buddy Matt Bretz.
This is the teaser trailer for the final two shows of the original (and best, in my opinion) Four Clowns show. It plays tonight (which is the reason for the early Friday Feature posting) Aug 9th and next Thursday, Aug 16th at the Actors Circle Theatre. Catch it if you haven’t already as I don’t […]
Yep. War Horse. Ahmanson. Nice to have a budget, eh? Nevertheless, nicely put together.
This from Skypilot Theatre’s new musical Earthbound: An Electronica Musical. Pretty cool, though the tune doesn’t exactly make we want to get up and dance…
