Zombie Joe’s Underground - Zombie Joeís Underground Theatre Group, or ZJU Theatre Group, was born in August 1992, in a small industrial garage near the corner of  Parthenia and Bryant, in the city of Northridge, deep in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. Zombie Joe founded the company upon the ground-breaking theatrical doctrines of Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Turgenev, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and George Lucas. Building upon the traditions of these innovators before him, Zombie Joe soon developed his own peculiar evolution of performance, forging his own brand of “Progressive” Theatre, a unique brand of high impact, fast and furious, tightly-chiseled live entertainment that would pave ZJUís path into the new millennium.

Today, Zombie Joeís Underground Theatre Group, in combination with their offspring – The Limecat Family Theatre Company, has become a critically acclaimed, award-winning tour-de-force in The NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, CA. The Los Angeles Times describes ZJU as “A Model of Barebones Ingenuity”, and The LA Weekly proclaims ZJU as “One of Los Angelesí Living Treasures”. This year, their original adaptation of Edgar Allan Poeís “Masque of The Red Death” has earned them 3 LA Weekly Theatre Award Nominations.

The Mid-Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council was certified by the city of Los Angeles in September 2002 and has been active ever since. According to the revised City Charter adopted by voters in 1999, the purpose of neighborhood councils is “to promote more citizen participation in government and make government more responsive to local needs.“The volunteer members the MidTownNoHoNC endeavor to provide stakeholders with information about how to get more involved in city government. Members sometimes act as “neighborhood lobbyists” and grassroots organizers, helping the community to express its will to elected officials and have their voices heard. The MidTownNoHoNC also coordinates local improvement projects to make Mid Town North Hollywood an even better place to live and work.

Neighborhood councils are a special part of city government, designed to represent the community’s voice in City Hall. It is especially important that you and your group are represented in the MidTownNoHo’s advice to the city.

The MidTownNoHoNC works in partnership with community groups. The MidTownNoHoNC seeks to unify these voices and to advise the City on behalf of their  more than 60,000 stakeholders.

They also work closely with North Hollywoods City Councilmembers in the 2nd and 4th Council Districts, as well as with adjacent neighborhood councils, on regional and citywide policy issues.

The MidTownNoHoNC will work to honor diversity, build community, forge bonds with neighboring communities, and promote participation in city governance and decision-making processes to improve the quality of life for all of Mid Town NoHo Stakeholders.
