“… a moving, soulful and finely polished performance. Karen held the audience in thrall. I’ve never seen so many grown men reach for their hankies” – Daniel deVise, Washington Post journalist and author
Actress, singer, comedian, clown, magician, puppeteer and ventriloquist Karen Knotts, the daughter of comedic American acting genius Don Knotts, shares on life, love and growing up with a famous dad (and The Andy Griffith Show) revealing how that influenced her own life choices and her struggle for self identity. One night only, Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Santa Monica Playhouse.
Karen Knotts mixes “ humor with touching insight into a Hollywood way of life…an exciting journey with some zany characters thrown in the mix,” say Wilson and Julie Adams: Theatrical Producers, Murfreesboro, TN where “Tied Up in Knotts,” just played to sold out crowds for the fourth straight year. Written and performed by Karen Knotts, a USC theater major who in 1980 graduated and hit the road to perform Equity Regional Theatre on tour with her father, Don Knotts, “Tied Up in Knotts” is “a loving, joyous celebration of growing up with Don Knotts” (The Tolucan Times). Roles Karen played in those shows with her Dad included a prostitute in “Norman, Is That You?” and a prude in “Mind with the Dirty Man.” She has also appeared in numerous television shows, and has written two plays: “But We Open Tonite!” and “Dates From Hell, The Musical” in addition to the autobiosolo show “Tied Up in Knotts.”
“Tied up in Knotts” Director Anderson Gabrych was born in Japan and raised in Chico, California. He is co-director of the satirical documentary “Bright Day.” Writing credits include: “Detective Comics,” “Out West” and “Dirty Laundry (CD).” As an actor he has appeared on “Law and Order,” “The Sopranos” and “Another Gay Movie.” Gabrych is a member of ‘Sit N Spin’ where he performs regularly on the Comedy Central stage. Associate Director Joe Coddington’s love for story and technology brought him to the entertainment industry 22 years ago. Besides being a Screenwriter, Playwright, & lighting designer, He’s an ETCP Certified Entertainment Electrician, video producer, audio engineer prop master and more. The show is produced by T.U.I.K.
