Mad Theatrics Presents: Permanent Ink 2012: The Top Los Angeles World Premieres (as voted by you)

Congrats once again to the Mad Theatrics Mad Genius Andrew Moore for pulling this together and many thanks for linking the LemonMeter to the productions that won.

This is the second annual, I believe, and Andrew’s main goal with Permanent Ink is to promote and highlight those new plays that are born, bred and birthed here in Los Angeles first. Here’s Andrew with some good advice to playwrights, artistic directors and the enterprising producers out there:

Also, PLAYWRIGHTS: IF YOU DO NOT YET HAVE ONE, PLEASE ESTABLISH AN ONLINE PRESENCE. This goes for all of you out there, not just the few folks on this list I had to track down. Make it easy for people to find you, dammit.

Okay, artistic directors and producers far and wide: Take heed. The companies listed above have done the R&D for you. If you’re looking for an exciting new work that will delight audiences, you may just find what you’re looking for on this list.

His method in choosing the winners: open it up to the audiences that saw the shows and let them vote. Always a dangerous undertaking as “audience/community awards/favorites” can often take the shape of popularity contests rigged and gamed by those who know how to work the system.

Nevertheless, the tallies have been tallied and the winners have been announced.  And I really like the list, mostly because I saw most of these shows and for the most part, in my opinion, they are most deserving of the praise they have received and continue to receive.

These are presented in chronological order as to when they were produced in 2012 and you should go over to the Mad Theatrics site to get more extensive information on the plays and the productions. He’s also added an Honorable Mention section for those shows that got votes but weren’t actual World Premieres, just Los Angeles Premieres.

Oh, and as a little side note: love the new look of the site, Andrew.

And now without further adieu, as chosen by you, here are the winners of…
