Acclaimed filmmaker Gigi Gaston’s ROOM 105 – a new musical show starring Grammy-nominated Sophie B. Hawkins – is a thoughtful and entertaining tribute to legendary soul singer Janis Joplin. The show is a humorous, engaging, bittersweet, intimate and honest musical confessional. Janis brings the audience into her world and her life, and teases viewers about aspects of modern day pop culture, of which she is privy. A modern-day retrospective on Joplin’s turbulent life, telling a story that reveals the iconic singer’s thoughts on love, sex, fame and belonging.
“If you’re in L.A., this is an absolute must-see. That’s all you need to know but if you love Janis Joplin and real rock and roll, this is a must-see. If you love American 20th century history or gender politics or simply a unique evening out, this is a must-see.” - LA SPLASH
“Sophie B Hawkins passionately channels Janis Joplin’s power, vulnerability and insecurities with her astonishing voice.” - Indie 103.1 Radio
“Sophie B. Hawkins is remarkable as Janis Joplin in ‘ROOM 105: The Highs and Lows of Janis Joplin’. The band is exceptional too in this trip down memory lane. It is one of our FEATURED events!” - Performing Arts LIVE
“When Hawkins starts singing, she sings the shit out of those songs. And, even with Joplin’s unmistakably, distinctive voice, Hawkins’ heart colors each note and vocal gymnastic. She really outdoes herself here.” - CINESNATCH
