Theatrum Elysium is looking for a Technical Director and Costume Designer for the entirety of the 2013 season; Steve Martin’s The Underpants; The Lady of Shallot – a company devised piece; and Hamlet by William Shakespeare.
We are looking for someone who can come in and spearhead the effort of our company to match our artistic vision with technical precision. The ideal candidate will be someone who is knowledgeable, can think on his or her feet, and can come up with creative and outside-the-box solutions to technical challenges.
As Theatrum Elysium builds its company this season, we are looking for a TD who will be able to establish and shape the way the Theatrum Elysium handles its technical business for years to come. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in building something up from the ground floor. The company has a small scene shop and tool collection, and lumber and paint supply that would become the purview of whomever earns this position.
Our TD will be primarily responsible for realizing our directors’ and designers’ visions within the budget that has been established. Our vision of a good TD is not a ‘yes’ Man (or Woman), but rather someone who is interested in creating solutions for technical challenges. We believe that no matter what design challenge you run into, there is always a solution that can give you the same ‘taste’ of what was originally desired. We need a TD who feels the same way!
If this description sounds like you, please send an email to Managing Director Chris Lang at firstname.lastname@example.org with a cover letter stating your qualifications and speaking directly to the above description, a resume or CV, and some digital samples of your previous work (if available).
We are looking to interview candidates the week of Nov 12th, so please also include at least 3 times where you would be available for an interview.
The position is a paid position, and will receive a $1000 dollar stipend for their work over the season. Additionally, any financial success at Theatrum Elysium is shared by the company at the end of the season.
You can visit our website at www.livetruthfully.org for more information about our company.
Thanks for your interest in Theatrum Elysium, and we look forward to hearing from you!
