So if you’re looking for a traditional MacBeth look elsewhere. If you want a 50-minute darkly sexual, inappropriately funny, thrill ride…don’t miss this one.
Anthony Byrnes – KCRW
It too is full of sound and fury, enacted collectively but signifying a manic swath of angst. It spits in our faces and winks. It defies analyzing. It’s just something to be felt. You can’t leave this tiny room without feeling something. And that’s not bad.
Steven Leigh Morris – LA Weekly
I’m not sure if this is meant more for laughs or for chills, but it gets quite a few of both reactions, thanks to the razor-sharp discipline of just about everyone on stage.
Don Shirley – LA Stage Watch
Not for everyone, to be sure. But among other things this production makes one of the best pieces of performance art I’ve seen in a long while.
David MacDowell Blue – Night Tinted Glasses
The Blood of Macbeth is full of humor, wit, mystique and MANY twisted sisters who take on story points to move the drama along to condense this production down to its one hour length. Very well done!
Lorenzo Marchessi – NoHoArtsDistrict
BLOOD OF MACBETH is not for the faint of heart. It pokes you slyly with its violence to see if you’re paying attention even as it lulls you into submission with the delicate French melody “A la claire fontaine.” It taunts you with its muscularity and laughs at itself before you do. And in the tightly contained space of Zombie Joe’s black box it is an uninhibited world of madness that will haunt you for days.
Ellen Dostal – BroadwayWorld
