Hollywood Fringe Festival 2012

Vote for the 5 Best Unpublished Los Angeles Plays to Debut in 2011 [UPDATED]

This is an interesting idea.

Hollywood has its famous “Black List” that highlights the best unproduced screenplays every year, now this company Permanent Ink is trying to create a similar list of plays that have been produced in LA in 2011, had actual productions, but have yet to be published in print.

If you go to this link here all will be explained.

It’ll be interesting to see how it shapes up. Those that are the masterminds behind this original idea, please hit me back at the end of the year and let us know what happened.

We will post the list forthwith.

UPDATE: Apparently Andrew Moore from the Mad Theatrics blog is the mad genius behind the idea.  He first blogged about it here. And he was subsequently inspired to create the idea by a fellow named Howard Sherman at his HowlRound blog. You can check out Sherman’s post here.

Andrew has promised to send us the final tally when it’s all said and done. He’s also asked if we might add an “original work” tag to LemonMeter ratings for new works so that we can lay down a marker for future producers. An interesting idea that we might just implement.
